Body of Water" is a four-part dance theatre work that has been in development for two years. It began with a study of water and its many states evolving into an expression of the abstract qualities of water—a kind of landscape in water. It explores the tranquility as well as the destructive nature of water.

It's nature's precious elixir--so powerful it can carve our landscape, yet so nurturing it can spawn life and support its intricate matrix.

From calm drifting water with ripples of waves disturbed by the breeze, the water moves with a lightness and splash that excites and amuses us. From the depths comes a great swell of energy that can build into a torrent. That torrent of water stirs, channels, lifts, overflows and tears down what may come in its path. Think back to the flooding in the Midwest, the hurricanes of Mississippi and Louisiana and the power of the destructive tsunami in Southeast Asia. The water, in particular the ocean, is a visual source of calm and tranquility for which we have an overwhelming respect. This massive powerful body of water is a living entity that nourishes and inspires all. Water is our existence for we are the body of water.

Collaborating with Nannette on this project is composer, Shane Cadman, set designer, Seth Arreola, and costume designer, Diane Browne along with the exquisite lighting design of Jody Caley.

“Body of Water” will premier in September 2010 in Long Beach and is supported in part by the L.A. County Arts Commission and the Arts Council for Long Beach.

Artistic director, Nannette Brodie has collaborated with Enoch Train, an American folk music ensemble to create a performance that transports the audience around the world. Stories, struggles and triumphs are portrayed through an evening of live music, modern dance and spoken word. Enoch Train is a Salt Lake City ensemble comprised of 8 musicians and over 90 instruments. Their music provides a brilliant accompaniment for choreography that is emotional, intriguing and touching. This performance is educational, entertaining and thought-provoking and is meant to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. This performance was premiered at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre on June 5, 2004 in Hollywood, California. The outside venue provided an incredible setting for such an eloquent work of art.

All Things Irish

An evening concert of live Celtic music and contemporary dance woven together by stories of Irish myth and history as told by the Irish storyteller.  This production can also be presented as a one-hour children's show.  ALL THINGS IRISH was premiered at the  Madrid Theater in Northridge, CA for St. Patrick's Day in 2006.
